After studying the classic prescriptions in the past two weeks, I wonder if you have some insights. I hope you can review the content you have studied often so that you can review the past and learn the new. Without further ado, let’s introduce our protagonist today—Da Qinglong Soup! Some people may be wondering, is this a bit difficult to deal with the herbs such as ephedra, cassia twig, gypsum, and licorice? This is wrong. The reason why I introduced Daqinglong Soup is not because it is related to what I talked about in the previous two weeks. As for what kind of connection it is, please read on patiently.
Before starting the medical case, please allow me to introduce Mr. Yu Wuyan. Mr. Yu is good at typhoid fever, miscellaneous diseases and traditional Chinese medicine surgery. He was once appointed as an honorary director and editorial board member of the Central Medical College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has also taught successively at Shanghai Chinese Medical College, Chinese Medical College, Suzhou Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Shanghai New China Medical College. Academically, Mr. Yu advocates "the scientificization of traditional Chinese medicine and the Chineseization of Western medicine." It is said that "medicine is divided into Chinese and Western medicine based on national boundaries. In fact, medicine is a benevolent skill, and there should be no so-called distinction between Chinese and Western medicine. It is better to take advantage of each other and melt it into a furnace to serve the people."
Mr. Yu makes good use of classic and current prescriptions in clinical diagnosis. He has clear syndrome differentiation, precise diagnosis and treatment, and is very courageous in treating patients. He is praised by colleagues and patients for his ability to treat patients regardless of whether they are rich or poor, high or low. He is the author of a total of six books including "New Meanings of Treatise on Febrile Diseases", "New Meanings of Synopsis of the Golden Chamber", "General Treatise on Practical Mixed Surgery", "Treatise on Practical Mixed Surgery", "Dampness and Temperature Typhoid Diseases" and "Typhus Diseases". species, which has a great influence on the medical field.
Needless to say, everyone should have guessed that the "protagonist" of our medical case today is Mr. Yu Wuyan:
My friend Deng Hancheng's nephew, whose name was Yidong, was strong and not prone to illness. He suddenly fell ill with typhoid fever in July. The weather is quite hot during the day and becomes cool after midnight. After ten o'clock in the evening, Yidong was lying in front of the door, shirtless and barefooted, only wearing shorts. The cool breeze was blowing, and he had a dream like a fairy. Around two o'clock, the wind blowing at the door became stronger, the coolness was pressing, and I woke up with a chill in my body. He immediately closed the door and entered his room, wrapped himself in a blanket and lay down, still feeling shivering. Then thicken the quilt and drink a cup of boiled water. After about an hour, the chills will stop. Who knew that less than half an hour later, my body temperature would rise higher and higher. Headache, body aches, no sweat all over the body, and burning sensation to the touch. As day dawned, medical treatment was postponed.
At that time, doctors used Schizonepeta, peppermint, tempeh, patchouli, etc. to treat it, but it was ineffective at all. It was postponed to three o'clock in the afternoon, and Seoul Yanyu went to see a doctor. On the way, he informed me of the reason for his illness. As soon as he entered the room, he found that he was cold and hot at times, more hot than cold, no sweat all over the body, restless, restless hands and feet, shortness of breath and slight wheezing. He complained that he had a headache like a knife, and his joints felt like being scratched. His body temperature was measured again and it was 41°C. The pulse is also broad and loose and tight. One can imagine the seriousness of his illness.
It was established as a book of Da Qinglong Tang. The main medicine is 4 qian for raw ephedra, 4 qian for Sichuan cinnamon twig, and 4 liang for raw gypsum. This ratio is acceptable for other medicines. Instead of jujube, fresh bamboo leaves cost five qian. Instructed to cook the recipe at home and tell him how to cook it. Decoction the gypsum first, and then apply the various medicines. Fry it into a pan, strain it to remove the foam on the soup, and take it in a full bowl. You will have to sweat profusely, but you can recover quickly.
The medicine was mixed with decoction and taken, but nothing happened, and the irritability became even worse. The whole family was frightened and tried to calm themselves down. Within half an hour, the sweat gradually came out and became smoother and smoother. The underwear is completely wet, and the quilt is also wet. I sweat profusely for about half an hour and then gradually stop sweating. The time for sweating to stop is one hour and forty minutes. As soon as the high fever subsides, all diseases feel as if they are gone.
This medical case seems very simple. It is the story of Mr. Yu Wuyan’s friend’s nephew who got sick due to being greedy for cold weather in summer. After Mr. Yu’s diagnosis and treatment, he used Daqinglong Decoction against all objections and the patient was cured. Although the story is short, in these few words, Daqinglong Tang has completely lost its mysterious veil.
First of all, Daqinglong Decoction is a superficial relieving agent, which has the effect of pungent and warm to relieve superficial symptoms. It mainly treats exogenous wind and cold combined with internal heat, aversion to cold and fever, body pain, no sweating, irritability, and a floating and tight pulse. It is also used to treat overflowing drinking, those with the above symptoms combined with wheezing, coughing and floating face. It is commonly used clinically to treat influenza, summer fever, acute nephritis, addiction rash, and summer exogenous high fever in children. The dosage consists of 18g of ephedra (removed from joints), 6g of cinnamon twigs, 6g of licorice (broiled), forty almonds (peeled and sharpened), 9g of ginger (cut), ten jujubes (broken), gypsum (such as chicken eggs) big).
The above paragraph is its basic information. Most people know this as a knowledge reserve. However, everyone is thirsty for knowledge and I believe they will not be satisfied with this. They must want to know how to use Daqinglong Tang. Here we have to invite Zhang Zhongjing to appear. .
Zhang Zhongjing has only three clinical applications of Daqinglong Decoction in Treatise on Febrile Diseases and Synopsis of the Golden Chamber. Article 38 of Treatise on Febrile Diseases: "Taiyang stroke, floating and tight pulse, fever and aversion to cold, body pain without sweating and irritability Daqinglong Decoction is the main medicine. If the pulse is weak and the person sweats and is windy, do not take it. If you take it, it will be counterproductive. The muscles will be wary and the flesh is thin, which is counterproductive." Also article 39 of this book: "Typhoid fever, floating pulse Slow, no pain in the body, but severe, sometimes mild, and if there is no Shaoyin syndrome, Daqinglong Decoction can treat it." "The Synopsis of the Golden Chamber: The Twelfth Treaty of Phlegm, Drinking, Cough, Pulse and Syndrome" states: "Disease overflow Those who drink it should sweat, Da Qinglong Tang is suitable for it, and Xiao Qinglong Tang is also suitable for it."
The above three sentences are all about the main evidence of Daqinglong Tang. Are you a little confused? In fact, many doctors have made a lot of speculations about the main symptoms of Da Qinglong Tang. Representatives of them are Mr. Yamada Masazine of Japan and Mr. Lu Yuanlei of my country. They both believe that those who use Daqinglong Decoction in Article 39 must have the four symptoms of fever, aversion to cold, no sweating, and irritability. The article does not specify whether The purpose is to simplify the text description, or to give the name of the prescription so that the main symptoms can be known, so it is omitted. Therefore, it is believed that the main symptoms necessary for the use of Daqinglong Decoction for exogenous diseases are: fever, aversion to cold, no sweating, and irritability; while Mr. Lu Yuanlei only thinks: fever, aversion to cold, no sweating, and thirst There are five symptoms of irritability and excessive thirst.
After clarifying the main evidence, will everyone be able to understand it if we go back to the medical records?
As for the medicinal composition of Daqinglong Decoction, the purpose of using ephedra, cinnamon twigs, and ginger in this prescription is to induce sweating with pungent warmth to dispel wind and cold, so that internal heat can be released with sweat; while licorice and ginger are used to nourish the spleen and stomach and replenish yin and blood. , used to replenish body fluids damaged by internal heat. Of course, sweating cannot occur without body fluids, so these two medicines can replenish the source of sweat; as for gypsum, it is used to clear away internal heat, and when combined with ephedra, it can penetrate the stagnation of heat; Almonds are mixed with ephedra, one is collected and the other is dispersed, so that the lung qi can be lowered and the external evils can be expelled from the body.
The medical case is actually over here, but I believe you will still have questions, so I will just pick a few that you may ask.
●First, everyone knows that Daqinglong Decoction is a flavored version of Ephedra Decoction, and Ephedra Decoction is a particularly powerful prescription for sweating. So why does the Daqinglong Decoction not only increase the dosage of ephedra from three ounces to six ounces, but also add pungent and warm ingredients? A few ounces of scattered ginger can enhance the effectiveness of relieving sweating. Isn't this the equivalent of adding fuel to the fire in summer? The main reason here is that Daqinglong Decoction is a prescription that relieves both the exterior and interior. Ephedra relieves sweating on the exterior and gypsum clears away heat on the interior. One exterior and one interior, one rises and one falls, one disperses and one collects. The gypsum restrains the blood to a certain extent. Ephedra has the ability to relieve sweating from the outside, so it is necessary to increase the dosage of ephedra to achieve the purpose of relieving both the outside and the inside.
●Second, since we want to clear away internal heat, instead of using gypsum, can’t we use skullcap and coptis? Gypsum is pungent, sweet and cold. "Shen Nong's Materia Medica" believes that its taste is pungent and slightly cold. The pungent and cold properties of gypsum are different from the bitter and cold properties of skullcap and coptis.
"Treatise on Febrile Diseases" states that Taiyang Yangming (the main syndrome of Daqinglong Decoction is Taiyang Yangming syndrome) can be treated together. Zhongjing mostly uses gypsum combined with ephedra instead of Qinlian. Although gypsum is a mineral drug, it has the ability to clear away internal heat and dissipate evil spirits to the outside. Therefore, gypsum is often used in combination with ephedra, while Qinlian Kuhan has no similar ability, so it is not used. Just as "Depei Materia Medica" says: "Gypsum has a pungent taste and is scattered, causing evil spirits to spread to the skin. If qin and lian are used incorrectly, they will be bitter and dry, which will cause fire evil to accumulate internally and gradually become an incurable disease." According to "Treatise on Febrile Diseases", gypsum is often used to mix ephedra, such as Daqinglong Decoction, etc. when there are both internal and external solutions.
●Third, Daqinglong Decoction and Maxing Shigan Decoction are both used to treat external wind-cold and internal heat. What is the difference? There is still a difference. Daqinglong Decoction is mainly for patients who first have internal heat and then experience external wind-cold, while Maxing Shigan Decoction is miraculous for patients who experience external wind-cold and then internalize the heat. If you feel that it is difficult to distinguish, then remember their respective main evidence, so that it is easier to distinguish.
●Last one, to what extent do you need to use this Daqinglong Soup? Daqinglong Decoction is a prescription that solves both external and internal diseases. It can remove both external and internal causes of disease at the same time. The sign of eliminating external causes of disease is sweating. Sweating indicates that evil spirits have been eliminated. Therefore, when using the external method in clinical practice, the principle of "taking it after the sweating has stopped" should be followed. Just as the note after the recipe of Da Qinglong Decoction says: If you have sweating after taking it for the first time, stop taking it. This also reflects Zhongjing's principle of using medicine based on knowledge. If the pungent temperature causes excessive sweating, one will help heat, and the other will cause profuse sweating.
Sweat is a type of body fluid and the carrier of Yang Qi. Therefore, excessive sweating will easily destroy Yang, so excessive sweating is not allowed. As Zhongjing said, "Don't let water flow away, and the disease will not be cured." Although the dosage of Daqinglong Decoction is relatively large clinically, you must remember to take it after the sweating has stopped. A slight sweating is a good sign of sweating. At this time, the sweating will be relieved but the body fluids and qi will not be damaged. As Chen Xiuyuan said in "Medicine" It is said in the Three-Character Classic: "Preserving body fluid is the true interpretation."
Regarding Daqinglong Tang, I will introduce it to you here for now. If you have any questions or want to know the recipe, please leave a message in the comments to communicate with us!
