[Chinese Medicine]learning experience (56) Shaoyao Decoction
The notes I compiled are based on the textbook "Prescriptions" of the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and some prescriptions that I think are good. The prescriptions written are all my personal experience, and the analysis methods are mainly based on the six meridians and the viscera. I am not a medical professional, studying medicine is purely a hobby. It is normal if there are mistakes in the text.

【Category】Zang-Fu heat agent

[Ingredients] One liang of peony (30g), half liang of angelica (15g), half liang of Coptis chinensis (15g), two cents each of betel nut, woody incense, and roasted licorice (6g each), three cents of rhubarb (9g), half and half of scutellaria baicalensis (15g), two and a half cents of cinnamon (5g)

【Usage】Shangyao 㕮zui, each serving half two (15g), two cups of water, decoct until one cup, and take it warm after eating (modern usage: decoction in water).

【Function】clearing away heat and dampness, regulating qi and blood.

[Indications] Damp-heat dysentery. Abdominal pain, feces with pus and blood, both red and white, tenesmus, burning anus, short red urine, yellow greasy tongue coating, rapid pulse.

In the treatment principles of Chinese medicine, there are positive and anti-curative methods. The correct treatment method is: warm the cold, cold the hot, replenish the deficiency, and relieve the excess. The anti-cure method is: use cold because of cold, use heat because of heat, use it because it is blocked, and use it because it is common. Shaoyao Decoction is a representative prescription for common causes.

The patient feels damp heat, epidemic toxin, and evil enters the intestinal tract, causing diarrhea and dysentery.

Scutellaria baicalensis and Coptis chinensis are the first choice for treating damp heat in the intestine. Even if there is pus and blood, there must be a pathogenesis of heat forcing the blood to flow indiscriminately, so angelica is used to nourish blood and blood to repair the damaged intestinal wall. Paeoniae officinalis and licorice relieve spasm and relieve pain, and harmonize the liver and spleen. Woody incense and betel nut dredge the intestinal qi, and angelica is used to remove blood stasis. Rhubarb laxative embodies the treatment strategy of "common cause and general purpose" to treat diarrhea by purging. Cinnamon counteracts the coldness of Sanhuang.

For severe bleeding, Burnet can be added. If the humidity is heavy, it can facilitate urination and dehumidification.
