[Chinese Medicine] learning experience(74) Astragalus Guizhi Wuwu Decoction
The notes I compiled are based on the textbook "Prescriptions" of the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and some prescriptions that I think are good. The prescriptions written are all my personal experience, and the analysis methods are mainly based on the six meridians and the viscera. I am not a medical professional, studying medicine is purely a hobby. It is normal if there are mistakes in the text.

(74) Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction
[Source] "Synopsis of the Golden Chamber"

【Category】Warming meridians and expelling cold

【Composition】 Astragalus three liang (9g), peony three liang (9g), cinnamon twig three liang (9g), ginger six liang (18g), jujube twelve pieces (4 pieces)

[Usage] Add the five flavors, take six liters of water, boil two liters, take warm and take Qihe, three times a day (modern usage: decoct in water).

[Function] Reinforcing Qi meridian, harmonizing blood and clearing numbness.

[Indications] blood paralysis. Skin numbness, slight aversion to wind and cold, pale tongue with white fur, slightly astringent and tight pulse.

Compared with Guizhi Decoction, Yizhi Licorice is Raw Astragalus, and the dosage of ginger is increased. Roasted licorice has the functions of urging emergency, protecting the heart, and protecting the spleen and stomach, while raw astragalus tends to invigorate qi and strengthen the exterior. Increasing the amount of ginger is to enhance the power of expelling cold and promoting yang.

The so-called blood numbness refers to the symptoms of skin numbness and pain caused by the contraction of the meridians caused by the deficiency and cold syndrome of the blood system on the body surface. Therefore, cinnamon sticks are used to warm blood vessels; white peony root relieves spasms; ginger dispels cold and unblocks yang;

There are three functions of Astragalus in the prescription:

1. Citing various medicines to express their expressions.

2. Invigorate qi and strengthen the surface.

3. Combine with white peony root and jujube to enrich blood.

The disease location of this formula is on the surface, and the nature of the disease is mild Yin syndrome, so it is mainly used for Shaoyin disease. Clinically, add angelica for severe blood deficiency, add papaya and black snake for severe paralysis, and add peach kernel and safflower for patients with blood stasis.

Compared with the syndrome of Danggui Sini Decoction, the syndrome of this prescription is mainly caused by cold evil, while the syndrome of this prescription is mainly caused by blood deficiency.
