The prescriptions written are all my personal experience, and the analysis methods are mainly based on the six meridians and the viscera. I am not a medical professional, studying medicine is purely a hobby. It is normal if there are mistakes in the text.
(64) Fangfeng Tongsheng Powder
[Source] "Huang Di Su Wen Xuan Ming Lun Fang"

[Composition] Fangfeng, Chuanxiong, Angelica, Peony, Rhubarb, Mint Leaf, Ephedra, Forsythia, Glauber's Salt, half and half (6g each), Gypsum, Scutellaria, Platycodon grandiflorum, each one (12g), talc three liang (20g), Two taels of licorice (10g), one point each of Nepeta, Atractylodes macrocephala, and gardenia (3g each)
[Usage] The top is the end, take two qian (6g) per serving, a large cup of water, three slices of ginger, decoct to six minutes, and take warm (modern usage: make water pills, 6g per serving, add 3 slices of ginger, decoct and send Take it twice a day; it can also be used as a decoction, decocted in water).
[Function] Dispelling wind and relieving exterior syndrome, purging heat and laxative.
[Indications] Wind-heat congestion, both external and internal evidence. Aversion to cold and strong heat, dizziness in the head, red eyes and pain, bitter and dry mouth, uncomfortable throat, fullness of chest and diaphragm, cough, vomiting, fullness of breath, thick and sticky nasal discharge, constipation, red and astringent urine, yellow and greasy tongue coating, rapid pulse powerful. And control sores and swelling, intestinal wind and hemorrhoids, red nose, rash and so on.
There is a common saying in the folks: "If the medicine exceeds 13, the doctor will not take it." It means that if the prescription exceeds 13 medicines, it means that the doctor's level is not good, so don't seek medical treatment from him. There are 17 herbs in Fangfeng Tongsheng San. Does it mean that Liu Wansu, one of the four Jinyuan masters, is actually not very good at medicine?
Liu Wansu once proposed that "all six qi can turn into fire", and he was good at using cold and cool medicines, so people called it "cold and cool school". He provided a theoretical basis for the establishment of febrile diseases in later generations. Fangfeng Tongsheng San is the representative prescription of Liu Wansu's theory.
The human body is divided into the outer part, the inner part, and the half-outer and half-inner part. The evil energy in the outer part is eliminated by sweating, and the evil energy in the inner part is eliminated by two stools. . The patient feels wind evil (not related to cold and heat), enters the interior and transforms heat, and the heat evil permeates the three parts, so the above symptoms are seen. Yellow and greasy tongue coating is a sign of damp heat, and a strong pulse is a sign of fire depression.
The Sun, Shaoyang, and Yangming are all sick together, and the fire is blazing. According to the theory of classical prescriptions, the combined disease of three yangs is cured in Shaoyang. Liu Wansu ruled the three parts at the same time, and the upper and lower parts were divided and eliminated. There are ups and downs in the formula, supplements and offenses. Use Fangfeng, Peppermint, Ephedra, Nepeta, Forsythia, and Campanulaceae to treat the fire of Taiyang disease; use rhubarb, Glauber's salt, and talc to treat the fire of Yangming disease; use gypsum, skullcap, and gardenia to treat the fire of Shaoyang disease. Sanbu Tongzhi consumes a lot of righteousness, so half a Bazhen Decoction (Chuanxiong, Angelica, Baishao, Baizhu, Licorice) is used to replenish Qi and blood. Three slices of ginger help to harmonize the stomach.
Fangfeng Tongsheng was originally a powder, but there has been a proprietary medicine Fangfeng Tongsheng Pills for sale. In the past, ordinary people looked down on doctors, and when someone in the family was sick or uncomfortable, they often took Fangfeng Tongsheng for a few days to try. The folks jokingly said: "If you are sick or not, Fangfeng Tongsheng."
