Obesity is a systemic disease that is likely to lead to abnormalities in the body, as follows:
First, obesity can cause metabolic disorders such as hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension, hyperuricemia and other metabolic disorders;
Secondly, obesity will increase the burden on the joints of the cervical spine, lumbar spine, peri-shoulder, knee and elbow, causing bone and joint diseases, such as cervical spondylosis, lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion and stenosis, periapical inflammation, synovitis, and necrosis of the femoral head, and so on;
Third, obesity increases the incidence of heart and cerebrovascular diseases, such as insufficient cerebral blood supply, myocardial ischaemia, coronary heart disease, cerebral infarction and so on;
Fourthly, obesity may also lead to restriction of thoracic movement, which may affect breathing and lead to breath-holding, shortness of breath, dyspnoea, and so on;
Fifth, obesity may lead to narrowing of the pharyngeal cavity, causing nocturnal sleep apnoea syndrome.
