Heat-clearing medicine
Any medicine that has the main effect of clearing heat and relieving interior heat, and is commonly used to treat interior heat is called heat-clearing medicine.

The heat-clearing medicine can clear away the heat in the interior through different functions such as clearing heat and purging fire, clearing heat and dampness, clearing heat and detoxification, clearing heat and cooling blood, and clearing deficiency heat. Heat-clearing medicines are mainly used to treat febrile diseases with high fever and polydipsia, syndromes of excess heat in the lungs, stomach, heart, liver and other viscera, damp-heat diarrhea, damp-heat jaundice, warm-toxin spots, carbuncle sores and swollen toxins, and fever due to yin deficiency.
When using heat-clearing medicines, it is necessary to distinguish the deficiency and excess of heat syndrome.
Most of these medicines have cold and cool properties, which can easily damage the spleen and stomach, so those with weak spleen and stomach, less food and loose stools should be used with caution. Bitter and cold medicines tend to transform dryness and impair yin, and should be used with caution in patients with febrile disease impairing yin or yin deficiency and fluid loss. Heat-clearing medicines are contraindicated in syndromes of excess of yin and excess of yang or true cold and false heat.
According to the differences in properties, efficacy and indications of heat-clearing medicines, heat-clearing medicines can be divided into five categories: heat-clearing and purging medicines, heat-clearing and damp-drying medicines, heat-clearing and detoxifying medicines, heat-clearing and blood-cooling medicines, and deficiency-heat medicines.
Heat-clearing and detoxifying medicine
The nature and flavor of this kind of medicine are mostly bitter and cold, and the main function is to clear away heat and detoxify. Indications for various heat-toxin syndromes, such as sores, carbuncles, furuncles, erysipelas, febrile plaques, sore throat, mumps, diarrhea due to heat-toxins, insect bites, cancer, burns, etc.
This type of medicine is cold and cool in nature, easily injures the spleen and stomach, and will stop the disease immediately, so it should not be taken too much.
Sijiqing
This product is the dried leaves of Ilex chinensis. This product has a delicate smell, bitter and astringent taste. Those with green color and bitter taste are better. raw use.

1. Burns, skin ulcers
This product is bitter and cold in nature, and external application has the functions of clearing away heat and detoxification, cooling blood, and suppressing sores. Especially good at treating burns and scalds. For external treatment of burns, scalds, and skin ulcers, it can be used alone as a liniment and applied externally to the affected area; the dried leaves of this product can also be ground into powder and mixed with sesame oil for application, or fresh leaves can be mashed and applied externally to the affected area.
2. Lung-heat cough, sore throat, dysentery, hot stranguria, hypochondriac pain
This product is bitter and cold, good at clearing heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and blood stasis. For lung-heat cough, sore throat, wind-heat cold, or damp-heat-induced drizzle, astringent pain in urination, diarrhea and dysentery, alone or in combination with clearing lung and purging fire and detoxifying medicine, clearing heat and diuresis and treating stranguria medicine, clearing heat and stopping dysentery medicine.
3. Trauma bleeding
This product has the effect of astringent and hemostasis. For traumatic bleeding, fresh leaves can be pounded and applied to wounds alone; dried leaves can also be ground into fine powder, sprinkled and applied to wounds, and then bandaged.
