diuresis and dampness medicine
The medicines with the main functions of clearing water channels and expelling water and dampness, and commonly used to treat internal stagnation of water dampness are called diuresis and dampness medicines.
This type of medicine tastes mostly sweet and bland or bitter, and mainly returns to the bladder, small intestine, kidney, and spleen meridians, and its action tends to be downward, with mildness to infiltrate benefits, and bitterness to reduce diarrhea. These medicines have the effects of promoting diuresis to reduce swelling, promoting diuresis to relieve stranguria, promoting diuresis and reducing jaundice.
Medicines for diuresis and dampness are mainly used to treat various diseases caused by water and dampness such as edema, dysuria, diarrhea, phlegm retention, stranguria, jaundice, eczema, leukorrhea, and dampness. Drugs for promoting diuresis and expelling dampness are easy to consume and damage body fluid. In clinical practice, corresponding diuretic and stranguria-relieving drugs should be selected according to the disease condition, and appropriate compatibility should be made to improve the efficacy of the drugs.

It was first recorded in "Shen Nong's Materia Medica".
This product is the dry mature seed of Plantago plant of Plantaineaceae or flat plantain. Slight gas, light taste. It is better to have large, plump and black color. Used raw or broiled in salt water.

1. Hot stranguria, astringent pain, edema and fullness
This product is sweet and cold, smooth and sharp, good at dredging water channels and clearing bladder heat. Treatment of damp-heat pouring into the bladder and causing dribbling, astringent and painful urination; edema caused by stagnant water and dampness, difficulty in urinating; prolonged illness due to kidney deficiency, heavy waist and swollen feet.
2. Diarrhea due to heat dampness
This product can benefit water and dampness, distinguish clear and turbidity and stop diarrhea, that is, "reduce urination to strengthen stool". It is especially suitable for watery stools with excessive dampness. Damp diarrhea; diarrhea caused by spleen deficiency and excessive dampness.
3. Conjunctival congestion, swelling, pain, dim eyesight
Plantaginaceae is good at clearing liver heat and improving eyesight, treating red eyes and astringent pain; liver and kidney yin deficiency, dark eyesight and dizziness.
4. Phlegm heat cough
This product enters the lung meridian, can clear away heat, resolve phlegm and relieve cough. Treat lung-heat cough with excess phlegm.
[Usage and Dosage] Decoction, 9~15g, should be fried.

This product is the dried whole grass of plantain plant or flat plantain. Nature and flavor are sweet, cold; return liver, kidney, lung, small intestine meridian. Function Clearing away heat, inducing diuresis and treating stranguria syndrome, eliminating phlegm, cooling blood, and detoxification. It is suitable for hot stranguria and astringent pain, edema and oliguria, summer-dampness and diarrhea, cough due to phlegm heat, vomiting blood and epistaxis, carbuncle and sore. Decoction 9~30g.
