When you have no interest in doing anything, are often unhappy, and always think about unhappy things, this is depression.
When patients with diabetes are depressed, they may experience overeating, loss of appetite, excessive fatigue, etc. These emotional problems can occur independently or occur in conjunction with multiple problems, all of which will aggravate the condition of diabetes.
How should patients with diabetes relieve themselves when they are depressed?
1. Relax muscles and ease emotions
Emotional problems, whether fear, worry or anger, will cause the muscles to over-contract and become hard, so relaxing the muscles can help relieve emotions.
We can do some stretches, leg presses, and knee bends, just like warm-up exercises before exercise, to loosen the muscles and bones throughout the body.
2. Regulate nerves and replenish positive energy
When you feel depressed, try to distract yourself and watch some inspirational books, TV series and movies to change your thoughts from negative to positive. This is a very effective method.
When our brain receives positive information, it suppresses the secretion of stress hormones (mainly cortisol and adrenaline) and increases the secretion of endorphins (relaxation and pain relief).
3. Communicate with people you trust
Trusted people include relatives, teachers or friends. Sugar friends may be able to help you solve problems by communicating with people close to you, thereby relieving your emotions and balancing your mental condition.
4. See a doctor
If a person with diabetes has serious emotional and psychological problems and must go to the hospital for examination, the doctor will weigh the severity of diabetes and emotional illness and may choose to combine drug treatment with physical therapy.
