【Chinese Medicine】experience (78) Yupingfeng powder
The notes I compiled are based on the textbook "Prescriptions" of the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and some prescriptions that I think are good. The prescriptions written are all my personal experience, and the analysis methods are mainly based on the six meridians and the viscera. I am not a medical professional, studying medicine is purely a hobby. It is normal if there are mistakes in the text.

(78) Yupingfeng powder

【Category】Air supplement

[Composition] One liang of Fangfeng (15g), two liang each of Radix Astragalus Honey Roasted and Atractylodes Rhizoma Atractylodes Rhizome (30g each)

【Usage】Shang 㕮 Tsui, three qian (9g) per serving, one and a half cups of water, add one jujube, fry until seven minutes, remove the water, and serve hot after eating

(Modern usage: powder, 6~9g per serving; it can also be used as decoction, decocted in water).

[Function] Replenishing Qi, solidifying the surface and antiperspirant.

【Indications】Spontaneous perspiration due to exterior deficiency. Sweating with bad wind, pale complexion, pale tongue, thin white fur, floating pulse. It also treats weak interstitial muscles and is susceptible to pathogenic wind.

Many people regard Yupingfeng powder as a prescription for treating spontaneous sweating, which is another conceptual mistake. Because there are many reasons for spontaneous sweating, and Yupingfeng powder can only treat spontaneous sweating of Qi deficiency and solidification type.

Wei Qi is responsible for defending the body surface, and it also has the function of consolidating body fluid. If the Wei Qi loses its solidity, the body fluid will turn into sweat and overflow. Wei Qi is produced by the spleen, so the function of the spleen should be strengthened.

Therefore, in the prescription, Atractylodes macrocephala is used to invigorate the spleen to treat the root cause, and raw astragalus is used to invigorate qi and solidify the exterior to treat the symptoms. If the defensive qi is not strong, there is a high probability that there will be invasion of external evils, so use Fangfeng to expel external evils. Another advantage of Fangfeng is that the body fluid will not be damaged very much by removing the exterior surface. If the patient's body fluid is already deficient, other medicines will damage the body fluid even more.

Some people think that Fangfeng is to prevent wind evil, which is purely a brain-slapping imagination.

There is nothing to say about this prescription, just be careful not to use this prescription if you are suffering from yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire, internal heat forcing fluid to go out and spontaneous sweating. If the dialectical difference is a little bit, the result is a thousand miles away.
