All kinds of "burning" symptoms hit in spring, it may be due to insufficient kidney essence!
I mentioned the topic of kidney essence deficiency, today we will continue to fill in the gaps, and talk a little bit about the method of regulating and replenishing. Regardless of whether you have kidney essence deficiency or not, you’d better pay attention to it, because, with the increase of age, many people will Such problems occur!

Let me tell you a case first.

A good brother of mine suddenly sent me a private message one day, saying that a relative in the family had a migraine. This relative was a middle-aged woman who said she had a headache on the left side. The scalp is numb. I asked her to take a picture of her tongue as shown above. She said that she had this situation before, but this year it was very severe. She herself said it was trigeminal neuralgia."

This relative also had a color Doppler ultrasound of the brain. Western medicine said that the blood supply to the brain was insufficient, and the CT scan of the brain did not reveal any problems.

At the same time, he also sent a tongue map of this relative. The tongue map is as follows:

In this picture of the tongue, the tongue is slightly red, with dark red characteristics, not the vivid reddish color of a normal tongue, and the tongue coating is relatively thin. Therefore, I judged that this person is deficient in kidney essence, and tends to be deficient in kidney yin, which leads to the rise of deficiency fire, headache, toothache, sore throat, trigeminal neuralgia, oral ulcers and other problems.

So, I suggested that she take Fushan Yinhuo Decoction.

Fushan Yinhuo Decoction, this prescription is actually contained in the book of Chen Shiduo, a physician in the Qing Dynasty. The original prescription is: three liang of rehmannia glutinosa, one liang of Morinda officinalis, five qian of Poria cocos, one liang of Radix Ophiopogon japonicus, two qian of Schisandra chinensis, decocted in water .

The amount we use now is usually: 90 grams of Rehmannia glutinosa, 15 grams of Morinda officinalis, 15 grams of Poria cocos, 15 grams of Radix Ophiopogon japonicus, and 6 grams of Schisandra chinensis.

This prescription was used by Chen Shiduo to treat a throat disease. He commented:

"A person has a sore throat, which is severe during the day and night, and moths grow into the throat, which is like a yang syndrome, but it is not very painful. When the throat feels dry, the throat is less and less fast, until the water enters the abdomen. Abdomen is restless, saliva profuse like water, put the saliva into clear water, and immediately disintegrate into water. People think that the sore throat is caused by moths, and they also use medicine for purging fire, not only has no experience, but also increases its Heavy. There are also people who cannot swallow a spoonful of water, and this symptom is Yin moth. Yin moths are light in the day and heavy at night, and Yang moths are heavy in the day and light in the night. There is nothing to hide under the Shaoyin kidney fire. ground, go straight up and cause inflammation in the throat. The method of treatment should be to invigorate the kidney water, and add the fire-replenishing flavor to ignite the fire and return it to Tibet."

The term "moth" in the article does not mean that there are real moths, but the shape of a throat infection, like a moth, so the ancients called this kind of throat swelling and pain a throat moth.

In fact, for some chronic pharyngitis today, if the tongue is red, I would suggest using this prescription to treat it.

The basis of this kind of conditioning thinking is the deficiency of kidney essence. Deficiency of kidney essence leads to deficiency of kidney yin. In the kidney, there is a balance of yin and yang. Now that there is less yin, there will be excess yang, and the excess yang will become deficiency fire. As a result, the asthenic fire rises up, so the fire cannot be cleared at this time, and the kidney essence and yin are replenished, and the asthenic fire will subside by itself.

So, this friend ate the fire-fire soup, how is the effect?

After my friend received feedback from his relatives, he sent me a WeChat message: "The prescription you gave her for migraine is miraculous, and the pain will disappear after a few doses, thank you very much!" "The essence of Chinese medicine is indeed miraculous! "

In a situation like this, once it is symptomatic, the effect is actually very rapid.

So, what kind of medicine nourishes the kidney essence in this prescription?
In the prescription, the most important medicine is Rehmannia glutinosa.

This rehmannia, in traditional Chinese medicine, is really an important medicine.

The original plant of Rehmannia glutinosa is called Rehmannia glutinosa, which first appeared in "Shen Nong's Materia Medica", and there are three types of rehmannia glutinosa, fresh rehmannia glutinosa and rehmannia glutinosa used clinically in later generations. Both have the power of nourishing yin and promoting body fluid. The difference is that fresh rehmannia glutinosa is bitter and cold, although its ability to nourish yin is weak, it is good at clearing away heat and cooling blood, purging fire and relieving restlessness. Among them, fresh Rehmannia glutinosa can help clear heat and eliminate evil; raw (dried) rehmannia glutinosa is sweet and cold, moist in texture, and less effective in cooling blood. But it is good at nourishing the yin of the heart and kidney, so when regulating blood heat and yin injury and yin deficiency and fever, rehmannia glutinosa is used to nourish yin; rehmannia glutinosa, commonly known as rehmannia glutinosa, is usually made after nine steams and nine suns, and its medicinal properties are no longer cooling. It is sweet and warm in nature and taste, enters the liver and kidney, nourishes blood and nourishes yin, replenishes essence and marrow. For those with insufficient true yin and deficiency of kidney essence, rehmannia glutinosa must be used in conditioning.

My experience is that rehmannia glutinosa is the first medicine for nourishing kidney essence, and its effect cannot be replaced by other medicines. In the famous Liuwei Dihuang Pills, the heaviest medicine is Rehmannia glutinosa.

"Compendium of Materia Medica" evaluates Shudi like this:

"Fills bone marrow, grows muscles, produces essence and blood. Replenishes deficiencies in five viscera and internal injuries, unblocks blood vessels, sharpens eyes and ears, black beard and hair, five labors and seven injuries in men, leakage of cells in women's injuries, irregular menstruation, and all kinds of fetal and childbirth diseases."

And "Materia Medica Congxin" said Shudi:

"Nourishing kidney water, sealing and filling bone marrow, benefiting blood vessels, nourishing true yin, hearing and eyesight, black hair and black beard. It can also nourish spleen yin and stop chronic diarrhea. It can cure cold and wind arthralgia, fever caused by yin deficiency, dry cough, phlegm, and shortness of breath. Shortness of breath, feeling empty in the stomach, heart deficiency without pus due to pox syndrome, sore shins and thighs after illness, acute pain in the umbilicus and abdomen after childbirth, yin deficiency due to sensory syndrome, no sweat and constipation, various blood movements, all liver and kidney yin deficiency, depletion diseases, it is the main medicine of Zhuangshui.”

In ancient times, Zhang Jingyue, who was best at using Shudi, should be said to be Zhang Jingyue in the Ming Dynasty. His nickname was even "Zhang Shudi", which shows that he attached great importance to Shudi. Zhang Jingyue's thinking was very clear in the use of Shudi. He believes that "Yin is the root of Yang" and "Yang is based on Yin". If there is yang damage to yin, or yin damage to yang, it will eventually lead to the loss of both yin and yang. Its treatment should be "combination of yin and yang" - "those who are good at tonifying yang must seek yang from yin, and then yang will be assisted by yin and have endless biochemical effects; those who are good at tonifying yin must seek yin from yang, and yin will obtain yang." Ascend and the fountain is inexhaustible."

In clinical practice, he believes that there is never any surplus of yin essence, which is the material basis of life activities. However, diseases caused by deficiency of yin essence can be found everywhere. And Rehmannia glutinosa "taste is sweet and slightly bitter, thick and qi is thin, sinking, and there is yang in the yin. It greatly nourishes the blood, nourishes the kidney water, fills the bone marrow, and benefits the true yin." Therefore, he often uses various combinations to use rehmannia, nourishing yin to make yang fall in love, replenishing essence to make yin return, and the wonderful use of it is amazing. If a doctor of Chinese medicine wants to truly understand how to use Shudi, Zhang Jingyue's book must be read.

Interestingly, doctors such as Zhang Jingyue and Chen Shiduo who are good at using rehmannia are all Taoist figures. Among the methods they use, they are best at using a large amount of rehmannia, combined with small doses of other medicines. What is the relationship between them? Is their connection point a certain medical school of Taoism? What other inheritances does this faction have? This is an interesting topic of medical history.

In the process of using Rehmannia glutinosa, it is worth noting that Rehmannia glutinosa is sticky in nature, so some doctors think it hinders digestion (Zhang Jingyue strongly disagrees with this). Those with less loose stools should take it with caution. If you need to take it for a long time, it is best to use it with tangerine peel and amomum to prevent stickiness from hindering the stomach. My point of view is that the general application of large doses is mostly to end the illness, and only a few doses are used. Long-term large doses are not used, otherwise there will be side effects such as diarrhea and bloating, because the human body's tolerance is limited. And long-term use, usually in small doses, or even pills, generally does not cause any discomfort.

So, how do we use the rehmannia?

I suggest that if the symptoms are people with insufficient kidney essence, it is recommended to take a little rehmannia glutinosa on a regular basis. Cantonese people have a soup called raw and cooked rehmannia glutinous rice. We can use this idea to make a Shudi yam soup.

Thirty grams of Rehmannia glutinosa, 30 grams of Chinese yam, nine grams of medlar, six grams of Ophiopogon japonicus, three grams of tangerine peel, three grams of cinnamon, and one section of pork spine. Simmer the soup on low heat for an hour.

This soup does not need to be taken every day, but for people with insufficient kidney essence, if they can take it once in a while, such as once a week, for two months, it will have a very good recovery effect on the body!

Ok, that's all for today. For nourishing kidney essence, this hole is very big, please allow me to fill it slowly.
