Liu Zhongzhen said that it is estimated that one out of every five adults over the age of 20 in Taiwan is a carrier of hepatitis B. There are about 3 million liver B carriers or liver disease patients in the country. Although not all of these people may develop the disease , but many people will eventually develop cirrhosis or even liver cancer.
He said that the current liver cancer detection mostly relies on ultrasound, but there are often dead spots. If cancer cells are hidden inside the liver, ultrasound can often not find them.
And he took advantage of the characteristics of cancer cell gene changes, developed a gene chip, and used the simple method of fluorescence reaction to screen for liver cancer with just a drop of blood.
