trigeminal neuralgia occurs frequently during the summer solstice
Generally, during the summer solstice or winter solstice, I will encounter many people asking me similar questions. What are these questions? That is: Why did my toothache suddenly hurt in the past two days? Why has my throat suddenly hurt in the past two days? Why did trigeminal neuralgia suddenly attack in the past two days?

This summer solstice is no exception. Several friends asked me what to do if they have a toothache? Some friends asked me that an elderly person at home suffers from trigeminal neuralgia and is very painful. What should I do?

The trigeminal nerve is an important nerve on the side of the face, and trigeminal neuralgia is a very painful disease, and the pain is terribly painful. I have seen such patients. Breathing in cold air, the pain is self-evident. Many people saw this funny scene and thought his actions were funny. In fact, the patient was already in pain and didn't know how to let it go.

When I was studying for a master’s degree, the father of one of my classmates was very good at treating this disease. Once I visited their hospital and saw patients full of corridors. There were probably hundreds of people waiting for treatment. This shows that this disease There are so many patients.

So, what exactly is going on with this disease? Why does it happen easily during the summer solstice or winter solstice? Why do I still have toothache and sore throat at this time?

Trigeminal neuralgia is a disease that the ancients have known for a long time. For example, Miao Xiyong, a famous doctor in the Ming Dynasty I once wrote, had a friend named Wang Kentang. :

"The place where the hair grows is from the top to the head, down to the throat and the heel of the teeth. It's like burning with needles. You can't touch it, and you can't even open your mouth. You can't speak or eat. You feel that the fire is like lightning, and you usually salivate. It's sticky like The thread is endless.”

Modern medical research on this disease is insufficient, and a clear cause has not yet been found, and there is a lack of effective treatment methods.

Traditional Chinese medicine used to treat this disease with ideas such as dispersing wind and pathogens, detoxifying and dredging collaterals, but the effect was mediocre. I didn't have any good methods for this. Seeing the pain of the patient, I felt helpless.

However, the "Huangdi Neijing" said: "Those who cannot be cured have not learned the technique." It means that those doctors who say that this disease cannot be cured are actually just not mastering the train of thought. The implication is that in the eyes of our ancestors, there is no disease that cannot be cured. Although this tone is loud, it is also reasonable. It fully demonstrates our ancestors' expectations for medicine-everyone work hard, sooner or later all diseases will have solutions.

But what about trigeminal neuralgia? Any good ideas? Where does this idea lie?

Later, I accidentally found a book by Li Ke, an old Chinese doctor. This old Chinese doctor is unusual. Generally, old Chinese doctors will save any good prescriptions and ideas for their own family members, but if their family members do not study medicine, If it breaks down, these experiences will disappear, which is a pity. But this Mr. Li Ke is different. He wrote down all his experience and published it as a book. In the book, he earnestly appealed to senior leaders in related fields to organize manpower to develop his prescriptions so that more People benefit.

Mr. Li Ke's benevolence can be seen from the words he wrote in the book.

At that time, I occasionally flipped through his book, and suddenly saw him discussing trigeminal neuralgia. Unlike others, he believed that the disease was caused by the deficiency of kidney yin, which caused the fire of dragon thunder to run up.

What does it mean? It turns out that traditional Chinese medicine believes that the kidney has two parts, kidney yin and kidney yang, and the two are usually in balance. Therefore, although the kidney is a dirty water, it has the warmth of kidney yang, but it will not be cold.

However, if a person's kidney yin is insufficient, just like there is insufficient water in a pool, then the dragon in the pool, that is, the kidney yang, will have nothing to rely on, so it will fly up. This is called "dragon thunder on the fire" Ben".

Let me give another example. Normally we have one hundred parts of kidney yin and one hundred parts of kidney yang. The two live in balance and depend on each other. However, if the kidney yin is consumed a lot and only thirty copies are left, and the kidney yang remains unchanged, then the kidney yang will appear to be more, seventy copies more. What will you do if you rely on it? Because kidney yang belongs to yang, it is also called the fire of the gate of life, so it will move upward, which is called the fire of dragon thunder running upward.

If this kind of dragon thunder fire rises, it will cause problems such as throat, eyes, teeth, etc., and this is how trigeminal neuralgia is mostly caused.

Mr. Li Ke's idea is indeed different. He said that in this case, kidney yin should be nourished, and Fu Qingzhu's fire-inducing soup should be used.

The story of Fu Qingzhu and Chen Shiduo has been written in my book "Ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine - Legends of Seven Famous Doctors". This fire-inducing soup appeared in both their books, because later generations believed that Chen Shiduo was Fu Qingzhu's student, so this recipe is also called Fu Shan Yinhuo Soup.

The medicinal composition of this prescription is Rehmannia glutinosa, Morinda officinalis, Poria cocos, Ophiopogon japonicus, and Northern Wuwei. In fact, the Rehmannia glutinosa we use now is still the original three liang, and the dosage of other medicines is not that much (you can check the specific dosage. Retrieve the articles of Mr. Li Ke, and please use it under the guidance of a nearby doctor).

So is this prescription really effective for this disease?

I just read Mr. Li Ke's discussion and I think it is very reasonable. I happened to have a friend whose old mother suffered from trigeminal neuralgia and was in great pain. She asked me about it. After repeated diagnosis, I felt that this old man was indeed suffering from kidney yin. Insufficient, because the tongue is very red and has no tongue coating, which is a typical indication of yin deficiency. I study diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine, and this kind of tongue pattern can basically be used as the gold standard of traditional Chinese medicine, so I recommended Fu Shan to him Fire-inducing soup.

Because the main ingredient of this recipe is rehmannia glutinosa, other ingredients are generally not used much, so the taste is good, basically sweet.

At that time, although I knew in my heart that this old man needed nourishing yin, but it really nourished yin. Could this trigeminal neuralgia be cured? You know, this is a disease that no one can do anything about.

As a result, three days later, I couldn't resist calling and asking, and he told me that his mother's trigeminal neuralgia had disappeared.

At that time, I was very happy. It turned out that the disease was really the same as what Mr. Li Ke described!

According to Mr. Li Ke: "Looking at the cases over the years, there are about a hundred cases, all of which belong to the deficiency of kidney yin, and burnt on the fire of dragon and thunder, without exception."

It seems that Mr. Li believes that the proportion of this condition is very high. Although traditional Chinese medicine talks about syndrome differentiation and treatment, the high proportion of the same symptom also illustrates the problem.

At the same time, Li Ke, an old Chinese doctor, also listed the basis for judging this disease:

"Longlei's fire is a virtual fire generated inside the viscera, which is quite different from the real fire of the six evils and external evils. There are the following 5 points for identification:

1. Both knees are cold alone, the upper and lower temperatures are normal, and the knee alone is as cold as ice;

2. The oncoming force is dizzy and domineering, like thunder and lightning, changing in an instant, exogenous factors often change gradually, and fire does not return to its original source and changes suddenly;

3. With the evolution of the annual and daily rhythms of the rise and fall of yin and yang, the phenomenon of correspondence between heaven and man is the most obvious. For example, in the winter solstice, when yang is strong, diseases will occur, in spring, when yang rises, it will become more severe, in the summer solstice, yin will gradually slow down, and diseases will occur at sunrise, during the middle of the day, and at sunset. The disease is relieved and heals itself at night;

4. Burning heat, either from the soles of the feet, or from below the navel, attacking the head and face. There is no such symptom due to external factors. If this symptom occurs, treat it according to the principle of fire not returning to the original source. Misuse of bitter cold and direct damage will be dangerous;

5. If you are not thirsty, you will urinate more. If you are thirsty, you will like hot drinks. "

——Original text by Mr. Li Ke.

Here, there are some indications, such as very red tongue, thin tongue coating or no tongue coating. What's more, this kind of person is easy to turn red, as if drunk.

Li Ke, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, believes that such patients will develop symptoms during the winter solstice and the disease will slow down during the summer solstice. However, according to my summary, there are many patients at both the winter and summer solstice. The difference is: in the winter solstice, yang begins to appear, so at this time, yin Patients with Yin deficiency are more likely to develop the disease; Yin begins to emerge during the summer solstice, so at this time, there are more people with Yin deficiency and Yang deficiency. For such cases with both Yang deficiency, generally use 1.5 grams of cinnamon powder each time, with rice and Take it as a pill and drink it before drinking the medicine.

However, we cannot be dogmatic. This does not mean that this condition only appears during the winter and summer solstice. In fact, this disease will appear at any time of the year as long as the conditions exist.

To be honest, trigeminal neuralgia is relatively easy to identify, but for ordinary toothache, I wonder how many people can identify which ones are dragon thunder fires, and which ones are chronic pharyngitis? This requires us to continue to summarize.

I once talked about the Zhenyin decoction of Zhang Jingyue, a famous doctor in the Ming Dynasty. In fact, it is the same idea. A large amount of rehmannia glutinosa is combined with some other medicines. Finally, if there is a little yang deficiency, add a little cinnamon. I don't know why, but at the end of the Ming Dynasty, such academic ideas suddenly appeared. What is the reason for this? These doctors, Zhang Jingyue, Fu Qingzhu, and Chen Shiduo are all Taoists. How is their way of thinking related to Taoism? Is the inheritance here completed through the Taoist system? This is all worth studying.

To put it interestingly, I once had a business friend who heard me talk about this effective idea of trigeminal neuralgia, so he came up with the idea and suggested that we should set up a specialized hospital for this disease. He used this recipe as a secret recipe, and it was very effective. It must be good.

I laughed at the time and told him that this idea was proposed by Li Ke, an old Chinese medicine practitioner. However, this old Chinese medicine practitioner didn’t want to make a fortune with this prescription. He had written this prescription in a book a long time ago and it was his own. With a big heart, people don't think about their own money. What they think about is how to tell the world about their experience and save everyone from suffering.

If Chinese medicine is so unconservative, of course it will make progress day by day.

I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the old Chinese doctor Li Ke!
