Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Friday once again supported Ozempic and other "miracle weight-loss drugs", saying that the health risks caused by obesity certainly outweigh the risks posed by weight-loss drugs.
Musk posted on his social media platform X, "I can't imagine that the diet drug Ozempic has really affected Walmart's food sales. While no drug is without side effects, the health pitfalls associated with obesity almost certainly outweigh the risks of GLP-1 receptor agonists."
John Furner, CEO of Walmart's U.S. operations, said in an interview this week that the company has seen an impact on food-shopping demand from people taking the diabetes drugs Ozempic, Wegovy and other appetite-suppressing drugs.
Furner said, "We did see a slight change compared to the total population, and we did see a slight drop in the overall shopping basket. A little bit less stuff to buy, a little bit less calories."
