Muxiang is a Chinese herbal medicine for regulating qi and can relieve chest and abdominal distension, indigestion, loss of appetite and other problems. The active ingredients it contains can promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and improve symptoms such as abdominal distension and diarrhea caused by spleen and stomach qi stagnation. The main production areas of Muxiang are Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi and other places. Among them, the Yunmuxiang produced in Yunnan is widely praised for its rich fragrance and dense texture.
Muxiang is pungent, bitter and warm in nature. It enters the spleen, stomach, large intestine, triple energizer and gallbladder meridian.
Muxiang has an aromatic smell and warm properties, which can both disperse and settle. It mainly acts on the spleen, stomach and large intestine, and affects the triple energizer and gallbladder. Raw Muxiang is mainly used to dredge gastrointestinal qi stagnation, relieve distension and indigestion, and promote appetite and improve spleen and stomach function. After being simmered, costus root can relieve qi and stop diarrhea at the same time, and is suitable for diarrhea symptoms. It is good at regulating the qi of the entire digestive system, especially suitable for the situation of cold stomach or accompanied by food accumulation and moisture stagnation.
Costus root contains volatile oils (these ingredients have aromatic smells and can help relieve gastrointestinal discomfort), a variety of olefin compounds, and a small amount of ketones and aldehydes. It also contains 20 amino acids such as aspartic acid and glutamic acid, as well as ingredients such as sterols and alkaloids. It has three major functions: regulating qi, relieving pain, and promoting digestion.

Spleen and stomach qi stagnation syndrome
It is usually used with Amomum villosum to treat stomach and abdominal bloating caused by common spleen and stomach qi stagnation.
Treats abdominal distension and pain, loss of appetite and vomiting caused by spleen and stomach weakness, often used in conjunction with Codonopsis pilosula, Atractylodes macrocephala, Tangerine peel and other herbs.
Liver depression and qi stagnation syndrome
